'Paradise for motorheads' opens

Wrench 'N Go, a "used auto parts park" at 4100 Vandalia Road in Des Moines, had its grand opening last week. The place is a paradise for motorheads, said Chris Pettis, a Vice President of Alter Trading, the parent company of Wrench-N-Go.
His company purchased three salvage yards - Des Moines Automotive, the salvage yard previously at the Wrench 'N Go location, as well as All Makes Auto Farm at 800 S.E. 32nd St. and Wrench and Save in Waukee - and combined about 1,000 vehicles at one address. The property has been landscaped, with vehicles sectioned by make, then by model and age. Vehicles are set on blocks so engine parts can be easily accessed. The yard is graded and rocked and enclosed with fence. Fluid is drained from every vehicle.
Customers pay a $1 entry fee, bring their own tools and go find the parts they need. Wrench 'N Go provides wheelbarrows and wash stations for customers.
Pettis said parts have a 30-day money-back guarantee. Prices are by part and not by vehicle, he said.
Super Low Price Auto Glass, an auto glass company, is also on site to harvest and install glass for customers.
Wrench 'N Go buys old vehicles - running or not - and sells whole vehicles as well as parts.
